PETER M. BARTFELD graduated Magna Cum Laude with honors from Cornell University in 1972, with a double degree in Government and Economics. Peter received his J.D. degree from New York University Law School in 1975.

In law school, Peter was an editor of the New York University Journal of International Law, and he assisted in the publication of a legal treatise on the subject of international business transactions.

Peter's practice areas include corporate and commercial matters, real estate and international law. He practiced for twenty years at the law firm of Dornbush, Mensch, Mandelstam & Schaeffer where he became a partner in 1983, and the assistant managing partner in 1989. He was also the chairman of the real estate department at the Dornbush firm. In 1995, Peter joined the firm of Bryan Levitin & Bab, and upon the dissolution of that firm in August, 2000, he joined Salon Marrow.

Peter's work in the corporate area encompasses a wide variety of commercial matters, including transactional work, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, private placements, corporate, partnership and limited liability company work, finance, bank and other loan work, licensing, distribution, employment, franchise, equipment leasing, alternative energy and general contract work.

Peter has also performed substantial work in the area of real estate, including the sale and purchase of properties, including office buildings, shopping centers, factories and warehouse facilities. He assists individual clients with their personal residence transactions, including private homes, cooperatives and condominiums. Peter has special expertise in the leasing area, having negotiated hundreds of office, retail and other commercial leases, representing both landlords and tenants.

Beginning with his years at Cornell and New York University, Peter has maintained a strong interest in international legal, political and economic matters. About one-third of his work has been for international clients, and he has developed a specialty in handling the needs of overseas clients conducting business in the United States.

Ancillary to his work as a commercial and real estate lawyer, Peter has substantial experience in the area of commercial litigation. During his first ten years as a lawyer, Peter practiced primarily in this area, focusing on complex contract disputes and real estate litigation. He continues to work with clients to achieve efficient and favorable results in litigations, arbitrations and other commercial dispute situations.

Mr. Bartfeld has also provided counsel in other areas of law, sometimes in association with specialists, including in the areas of trusts and estates, immigration and trademark law.

Peter has been active in volunteer projects over the years. He served on several school district and community committees, and was a long-time president of his community youth soccer club. Mr. Bartfeld also served as the national Youth Sports Co-Chairman of the United States Maccabi Organization.
